Welcoming Mark Bickerstaff to Watertight
We are delighted to welcome Mark Bickerstaff to the Watertight team.
Mark joins us with extensive experience in contract management, operations and process improvement, having worked across the public sector, infrastructure, water and flood resilience industries.
Having previously worked alongside Watertight within the PFR sector, Mark was already familiar with our business before joining the team but says seeing the company from the inside has only reinforced that first impression.
Confirms Mark: “Having previously worked in the PFR industry, I was already aware of Watertight, the talent and industry reputation. When I saw an opportunity to join the Watertight team, it felt like a natural next step for me.”
“What’s really impressed me since joining is seeing the ‘Watertight Way’ in practice: there’s a real pride in the work on site. I’ve spent time with the installation teams and you can really see the care that goes into every project. The team genuinely goes above and beyond for customers, right through to the final handover.”
“Even simple things, like providing residents with direct contact details for the people involved in the project, make a huge difference. It’s a very personal approach and something I’ve been really impressed by.”
Bringing experience across infrastructure and water
Mark’s career started in contract management within large-scale commercial environments, working across retail and logistics before moving into government contracts.
Over the years, he has worked on programmes for organisations including NHS England and the Department for Work and Pensions, building a strong foundation in delivery, governance and operational oversight.
He then spent nine years with Siemens, where his focus shifted further towards process management and contract delivery within the water sector, working alongside organisations such as Southern Water and United Utilities.
More recently, Mark worked within the flood resilience sector, gaining further experience in project delivery and operational management within PFR.
This broad mix of experience across infrastructure, water and resilience gives him a strong understanding of how complex projects are delivered and, importantly, how processes can evolve as businesses grow.
As Watertight continues to expand, a key focus is ensuring that the project delivery function scales in the right way. For Mark, that means taking a close look at the processes behind projects; how work flows, how teams coordinate, and how we maintain quality and consistency as demand increases.
Since joining, he has been spending time listening to teams, observing projects in practice and understanding how work is delivered day to day. The aim is to strengthen processes where needed, while protecting the culture and flexibility that make Watertight different.
Commenting on Mark’s appointment, CEO Gareth Boyd said: “Mark brings a strong track record in contract and process management across complex programmes. As we continue to grow, his experience will help to ensure that we scale in the right way; strengthening our processes while maintaining the quality and personal approach that really define the Watertight Way.”
And, for those visiting our offices, you may also spot Bailey, Mark’s collie dog, who is also settling in well!
Welcome Mark - and Bailey - to the team.
