Supporting Communities in Padiham
This week, members of the Watertight team have been out supporting communities at a number of flood resilience events across the country.
Yesterday, our colleagues Jessica and Dave were in Padiham, Lancashire, attending a Community Flood Resilience Event alongside representatives from the Environment Agency.
The event brought together residents who have been directly affected by flooding, creating an opportunity for open discussion, practical advice and reassurance. It was a busy, positive session with a high level of engagement from local people keen to better understand their flood risk and, importantly, what can be done to better protect their homes in the future.
Events like this are an important part of the wider flood resilience journey. Giving residents the chance to ask questions about preparedness and resilience, while having the opportunity to see what PFR measures look like can make a big difference as to how confident and prepared people feel.
Working alongside organisations such as the Environment Agency and fellow specialists in the sector ensures communities receive joined-up, consistent advice.
For Watertight, this is very much part of #TheWatertightWay — being present in communities, sharing practical knowledge and helping people understand that there are achievable steps that they can take for their homes.
Thank you to everyone in Padiham who came along, shared their experiences and asked questions.
