Helping Hampshire residents better prepare for flooding

Members of the Watertight team have this week been in Hampshire meeting residents whose properties have recently been surveyed for Property Flood Resilience (PFR) measures.

Jess Phillips and Dave Williams attended the resident engagement event to help answer questions, explain how different PFR products work and give people the opportunity to see and handle some of the measures that are used to help make homes more resilient to future flood risks.

Residents were also able to try deploying a flood barrier for themselves, demonstrating how straightforward the process can be and helping them to feel more confident about using measures when they are needed.

The Watertight team was joined by Brian and Tina from the regional Environment Agency team, who shared local flood-risk mapping and helped residents better understand the risk within their local area.

Events such as this are an important part of any PFR scheme, as they help to give residents the chance to ask questions, understand what is being proposed for their property and become more familiar with the measures before they are installed.

Thank you to everyone who came along and spoke to the team.
