Kris Parkinson promoted to Site Supervisor

At Watertight, we are fortunate to have a number of long-serving team members whose knowledge and commitment help to set the standard for the work we deliver every day. One of those people is Kris Parkinson, who has recently been promoted to the role of Site Supervisor.

Having spent almost 20 years working within the flood resilience industry, including more than five years at Watertight, Kris knows the installation process inside out. In fact, many of his current colleagues, including Mark Arrowsmith, Mark Gibbs and Dave Halstead, have worked alongside him for much of his career.

Before joining Watertight, Kris worked as an installer for two addition construction businesses, specifically installing flood resilience measures across the UK.

A natural progression

Kris’ responsibilities now extend beyond installation work and include supporting teams on site, helping coordinate projects on the ground, ensuring stores and materials are where they need to be, undertaking quality control inspections as part of the post-installation audit work, and spending more time with customers.

Talking about his promotion, Kris said: “My role has changed a lot but I’m really enjoying it – I’m loving it. I’m now making sure everyone is happy on site, that jobs are running smoothly, and helping out wherever I’m needed. Every day is different, and that’s one of the things I enjoy most about working at Watertight.”

More than just an installation

For Kris, one of the most rewarding aspects of the job is the difference flood resilience measures can make to people's lives. Having worked with many homeowners affected by flooding, he understands the trust people place in the Watertight team.

Adds Kris: “People put a lot of trust in us. Many have been through a hell of a lot when they’ve flooded. For me, there’s a huge amount of job satisfaction in knowing that what you’ve installed will make a real difference to a family or individual. To help people in this way is very rewarding.”

Supporting the next generation

Based near Durham, Kris travels extensively as part of his role, supporting projects across the country. One day he may be supporting the team with installations in North Yorkshire; the next he could be helping in a community resilience initiative, such as a recent project in Rochdale involving the installation and planting of SuDS planters at a local primary school.

Kris has also recently completed his SMSTS qualification, further strengthening the skills and knowledge he brings to the supervisory role.

Outside of work, Kris is a husband and father of three children aged 16, 14 and 10. In fact, his son is already showing an interest in following in his footsteps and pursuing a career in construction.

Commercial Director Mark Arrowsmith said: “Kris has been a hugely important part of the Watertight team for many years and thoroughly deserves this promotion. His knowledge of flood resilience installations and attention to detail are second to none. Having spent so many years on the tools, he understands what ‘right first time’ looks like and is ideally placed to support and develop our installation teams as we continue to grow. Just as importantly, he genuinely cares about our customers and always goes the extra mile to make sure they receive the very best service.”

Everyone at Watertight would like to congratulate Kris on his promotion and thank him for the contribution he continues to make to the business, every day.
